Let me first say that I don't always get around to making art with my kids. I'm also terrible at making time to sketch, but the other day I kind of figured something out. So, I wanted to share it with you.
My older two had a cooking class, and usually my daughter and I will take a nice hike in the park while they are in their class. This week though it was raining. What the heck were we going to do for 90 minutes? Then, I remembered the travel watercolor supplies I had. Bingo! Art time in the van while we waited for the boys. It gave me the motivation to sketch a bit and make art just for me, and gave her something to do to pass the time without freaking out. Also, a great way to keep her occupied without using a screen.
Now, I just need to keep these supplies at the ready for when we are out and find some time to sketch.
Here are the supplies I have:
Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colour Sketchers Pocket Box (They come in all sorts of sizes, palettes, and water carrying options. Perfect for taking anywhere.)
Pentel Arts Aquash Water Brush Assorted Tips (Great for not having to deal with a cup of water to paint with while you are out.)
Moleskine Watercolor Notebook ( I only had this notebook for myself, but will definitely be getting one for my daughter too.)
